Can you recall that feeling

when you return to a room from your childhood?

And for just a moment, you remember the room as you once did:

vast and endless, and almost wondrous.

But, then, you return to the room with your aged eyes,

and a height that offers you different perspective.

And, everything feels a little smaller.

More tangible, and mundane.

Maybe we do the same thing with people.

We don’t remember them as they actually were.

We remember them as we were.

We recall them through the eyes we had, long ago.

Eyes that couldn’t yet appreciate all the other angels,

but only the one we want to remember them from.

Written for an unexplained emotion:

Heart-worm

(n.) a relationship or friendship that you can’t get out of your head,

which you thought had faded long ago but is still somehow alive and unfinished.
